a walk is a story
cedar, metal (unidentified type), rock (unidentified type), oak, 2018
Most journeys we make are with a specific intention; to visit a friend, purchase groceries, go to a meeting. In this project, a walk was taken solely in search of a story that the moment and land was prepared to offer me. On my way, I found myself collecting a stick, a bright rock, rusted metal, and cedar leaves all while following the sunken path of dog prints in the snow. The walk became an opportunity for me to take a final journey with my late dog, Jack. I was drawn to navigate in the same way that he would; towards water and certain types of woods or people. I ended the process with a warm belly full of cedar tea.
